OUR NARRATIVE

The Venus of Capua is a marble sculpture created during the reign of Hadrian in the early second century. Recovered in 1750 from the ruins of the Campanian amphitheatre in Capua. She is also known as the Triumphant Aphrodite.

Venus / Aphrodite is one of my favourite subjects. Although I was aware of this statue from reading and pictures, this was my first up close viewing of this wonderful piece.
